Original Ideas and Basic Plan
This is my original mind-map. It includes the ideas I started to think about and helped me debate what topic I want to investigate. This will be:
Bullfighting in Spain:
- What happens in a bullfight?
- Where did bullfighting originate from? I.e the history.
- The culture behind bullfighting.
- How much money does it generate for the country?
- Does it actually generate much tourism?
- What are the political views on bullfighting?
- What are the opinions of Spanish people? Older generations vs younger generations.
- Opinions of animal rights groups?
- Which countries have made bullfighting illegal and when?
Aims and objectives
- Improve my research skills.
- Broaden my knowledge of a subject that is important to me, relating to my plans for studying Spanish at university.
- Improve my time management skills.
- Gain a better understanding of debates which are occurring in other countries and how peoples views differ.
Potential titles
- Should bullfighting be made illegal in Spain like it is in other countries?
- Is is the way Spain treats bulls wrong?
- Should bullfighting still be a part of Spanish culture?
This subject area is of interest to me because in the future I hope to go to University and study Spanish and English Literature, and my goal is to have a career either teaching Spanish or working closely with the country. Therefore, I think it is a good topic to help me get a feel for different aspects of Spanish culture. Also, doing this project will teach me a lot of valuable skills which I will need for university, for example independent research and trying to maintain a schedule to keep me organised.
