Planning of Dissertation

My dissertation will be 5,000 words explaining my debate of whether bullfighting should be banned in Spain or not. I plan to split it into three main sections to help me cover every topic I wish to speak about, and these will be based on:

  •  The actual process of the fight and why I believe that the violence is unnecessary.
  • The economic and social impacts of bullfighting; essentially whether the benefits outweigh the costs.
  • The amount of support it has, socially and politically.
I believe these all contribute to the argument that bullfighting should be banned in Spain, and they cover the topic areas I have researched in my blog.

The structure that I plan to use for my dissertation is as follows:
  • Abstract - I will write this at the end since it is essentially a summary of my debate.
  • Introduction - I will briefly outline my debate and my reasons for choosing this subject area. It won't delve into my full argument, but it will explain what I will write about in the dissertation and the brief introduction to the controversy of the subject.
  • Literature review - This essentially will consist of my reasonings for using the data I collected and explaining the social value of this study. I will also give reasoning for choosing secondary data above primary data. Literature reviews also typically explain a projects scientific importance and why it is worthy of study.
  • Discussion - The main body of my essay will be based on my argument that I mentioned previously and I will debate within this and use my research to give evidence for my claims. I will also overcome my own positionality and give both sides of the arguments.
  • Conclusion - This will briefly summarise my debate and my final viewpoint. If I write my essay correctly, this shouldn't need to have any new points, it should just conclude what I have already realised in the course of my writing.
The first deadline for the NEA is the 12th April, so I plan to write it from now until then and dedicate my time to it.
